Will I have a Guide throughout my trip?
Please note that this trip operates slightly differently than traditional TrovaTrips. You will not have a designated Guide who will accompany you throughout the trip however, you will be in good hands. There will be multiple Guides both in Bocawina and Glovers Reef who will oversee your activities, accommodations and other needs. You will also be provided a point of contact for your local Operator should you need additional assistance.

Your Pre-Trip and Post-Trip accommodations will be in Belize City. You'll transfer to and from the resort on the same day as the rest of the group.

Many Belize accommodations feature a mix of ensuite and shared bathrooms, including standard Western-style flush toilets. In some more remote locations, composting or low-impact pit toilets may also be used as part of environmentally friendly facilities.

Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and lodges, but connectivity can vary widely. Many remote rainforest and island locations have limited service or may have no connectivity at all.

On that day, you'll have the opportunity to sign up with various activity leaders for the specific activity you'd like to participate in. For safety, there is a limit to how many people each Guide can have in their group (typically 8-12 people per activity), with some activities available with two Guides. Keep in mind, larger groups also scare aware marine life so it's best to keep the group small.

The activities that are offered each day are determined the night before or in the morning by the Guides depending on group sentiment, weather conditions and natural factors. You will have a chance to do your activity of choice during your time at Glovers Reef Base Camp so don't worry if you miss out one day! There's much to do and lots that is offered on a rotating basis.

No prior experience is required for most activities. Guides provide instruction and equipment so beginners can comfortably participate.

Many activities involve light to moderate physical activity, such as snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, or swimming. Travelers should be comfortable with basic outdoor activity.

Are tips included?
Tips for Guides, drivers, and restaurant staff are not included in your trip costs. While tipping is not mandatory, it is a meaningful way to show appreciation and provides supplemental income for local teams. If they have enhanced your experience, consider rewarding their efforts with a tip. Below are tipping suggestions:
For Guides, it is recommended to tip $10-20 USD per person/day
For Drivers, it is recommended to tip $3-4 USD per person/day
For Restaurants, it is recommended to tip 10-15% of the total bill
Tips can be given in Belizean dollars (BZD) or US dollars (USD).

The official currency is the Belize Dollar, but U.S. dollars are widely accepted throughout the country. However, some businesses no longer accept $1 USD bills, so it’s best to carry a mix of small and larger denominations when traveling.

Tap water should be avoided by travelers. You should also avoid brushing your teeth with tap water when possible. For drinking water, make sure to drink treated water, which can be found at all lodging accommodations.

As a tourist, the best way to get around Belize is by plane, taxi (this includes water taxis), shuttles, and car rentals. Buses run on major highways and stop whenever passengers shout that they are near their stop. Catching the bus is cheap but can take a long time to get around.

Belize does not have any rideshare services like Uber or Lyft. However, there are other options for getting around, including local taxis, shuttle services, and rental cars. Many resorts and hotels can also arrange transportation for you.
