Cancelling a Confirmed Trip
Updated over a week ago

Things happen. Especially with travel, we know that life can get in the way of any best-laid plans. We at Trova never want to cancel a trip, as we know exactly how much work has been put into it from everyone involved. However, sometimes this cannot be avoided, and a cancellation is required. We will cover scenarios that could cause a cancellation, and other other details in our services agreement required by all Hosts to sign.

Confirmed Bookings Fall Below the Trip Minimum

Cancelations may not only happen at a high level with the Host or Trova. It is also common for Travelers to cancel their bookings. This is why we encourage Hosts to build up their Waitlists to fill any empty spots quickly. If your trip's confirmed traveler count is below the minimum 90 days before the trip starts, it is at risk of cancellation at that point. However, if bookings fall off past this deadline and are unable to be filled, your trip still may be subject to cancellation up until even after the trip closes. If a trip needs to be canceled for this reason, the following happens:

  • All confirmed or pending Travelers will be canceled and refunded in full. We uphold our Cancellation Policy at the time of cancellation. So if Travelers cancel before the trip is officially canceled, they will not be refunded.

  • Any amount paid to the Host via standard earnings or Earnings Advancement will be required to be paid back to Trova.

  • Your trip will move into a Cancelled status.

Host Requests Cancellation

We will always refer to our Host Terms and Conditions in this case. We will always try to work with you to make your trip work, or even possibly reschedule. However, in the event of cancellation, we will proceed per our terms. You can see a good overview of these in our Terms FAQ article. A few key points are:

  • Any rescheduled trip is considered a cancellation and must go through the request process again.

  • Some trips may continue without the Host, but this is determined on a case-by-case basis.

  • Depending on the circumstances, Hosts may be required to pay a $1500 cancellation fee to TrovaTrip.

  • Your trip will move into a Cancelled status.

Trova Cancellation

Due to things like Force Majeure, unforeseen circumstances, or the safety and security of our community, a trip may be required to be cancelled by Trova. In this case, these are heavily reviewed on a case-by-case basis and communicated clearly to both our Hosts and Travelers. Our teams will work with you to determine the best course of action for your trip, whether it be cancelling or postponing.
